Contrary to what many people believe, learning to play an instrument is actually NOT the most important thing when learning to play an instrument. (You read that right.)

Many people may learn to play pieces or sing songs on their own, especially now that there are hundreds and hundreds of YouTube tutorials available out there. This is not bad per se, but there are certainly issues that arise when people rely on these videos alone without proper musical guidance. 

First, the playing technique and fingerings are not always apparent in the videos. Next, are our children really learning any musical concepts  or simply copying what they see? If you gave them a piece of music sheet, would they be able to decipher what is written on there? Do they know how important it is to be able to sing in tune, especially when playing an instrument? And, are they copying what they see and hear correctly? Is what they're copying a reliable source?

These are some of the issues that our new children's course addresses. Through the BrightKidz Music Course, we aim to provide a strong foundation in building musicianship skills in children that will enable them to think in music and perform on their instruments in a musical way.  

What is Musicianship?

Musicianship is of a set of skills that enables musicians (composers, instrumentalists, singers, etc) to "think in sound", or audiate. By developing their musicianship skills, students will be able to hear music in their heads even without any sound being present. They will be able to understand and make sense of the music they hear. Composing and learning to play instruments will become easier, more meaningful and rewarding for them. 

Our series of Bright Kidz Musicianship Courses will train and help your child to: 

• Develop a real ear for music - understand  musical elements through live singing and actual musical experiences

• Sing in tune

• Develop and enhance their singing voices

• Be well-prepared when the time comes for them to learn a musical instrument; or if they are already learning an instrument, our lessons will enhance their musical understanding as well as their note-reading

• Learn how to read music notation

• Enhance their language skills and widen their vocabulary

• Learn in a safe and nurturing environment under the guidance of an experienced music teacher

• Develop their confidence in singing, speaking, performing

• Enhance their study skills by engaging both sides of their brain

• Learn to sing in harmony

• BONUSES: Learn about different cultures and languages around the world, meet other kids their age and, sing and learn together, and many more!

Important Info:

• Lesson Mode: Online
• There are two groups according to the children's age range:    

               GROUP 1 :  5 - 7 years old                                                            

               GROUP 2 :  8 - 12 years old

• Course Fee (10 lessons):  BND130 / USD100/ Php5,000 /MYR400
• Course Fee Promotion: BND1.00 only (in response to the Covid-19 difficulties that many families are facing)
• Sessions will be held via Zoom for one (1) hour every Saturday morning at 9:45 - 10:45 am (Group 1) and at 10:50-11:50 am (Group 2).
• The Zoom link will be emailed prior to commencement of sessions to the email address used during registration.
• Practice videos and learning resources will be accessible by all students to reinforce what they have learnt in the lesson.
• A culminating performance/ video will be held/shown at the end of every season.
• The first season will commence on the 12th of December, 2021 (see session dates below).

• If for any reason, a child is unable to attend, recordings will be made available and the learning videos will always be accessible. Please inform us via email or WhatsApp if your child will not be able to attend.
